"Torn"

Have you ever been torn between two really good things?

I mean two things that you really wanted to do but you had to make a choice.

This past New Years Day I was in one of those situations.

As is our custom, suggested by a good friend and brother of mine years ago, we had a New Years Day ride scheduled. We would meet for breakfast in High Point and then ride on down to Ellerbe Springs for lunch returning home later that afternoon or evening.

Now you need to understand, these people I ride with are some of my best friends. I really enjoy riding with and hanging out with them. I know they would be there for me if I ever needed them just like I would be there for them!

Well, we get on the road and at a rest break I noticed that I have a missed call and a voice mail. I listened to my message in which my wife tells me that the boys, my sons, all three of them, are all coming over to have a Wii tournament at 12:00. Its now about 9:30 in the morning and we are about a hour down the road on our New Years Day ride.

"Torn"!!

Man, I love riding with these guys! On the other hand I would love to be home with my family and be with the best little granddaughter anyone can possibly have!!! J mine! (Avery)

Decision time. There is no way I can ride down to Ellerbe Springs, have lunch with the guys AND be with my family at 12:00.

I am "torn". But, after prayer and with the decision made, I explain the situation to the guys, throw my leg over the road king, fire her up and head back to Greensboro to be with my family.

Paul, in the bible has to deal with this "torn" feeling also. In Philippians 1:23-26 he says: "I am torn between the two, I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far, but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. Convinced of this I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, so that through my being with you again your joy in Christ Jesus will overflow on account of me."

I would like to encourage you that when these "torn" feelings come into your life, and they will come, ask and allow God to direct you and you will never be sorry.

By the way, I was the victor in Wii bowling tournament if anyone’s interested !!!!!! J

God bless you,

Ride Safe, Ride in the Freedom we have in Christ Jesus,
